Following this link or entering the code takes you to the Now homepage
Your login will last for 30 days, after which you will need to re-enter your email to get a further 30 days' access via a link or code. You’ll be prompted and guided in this process.
Setting up your Now dashboard
On the homepage, click on Now. You will go to a default view with a single column of content titled “All Content”.
This single view provides you with every update PA Media is sending to Now. Some users may find this helpful, but there are other ways to set up views that may well be more useful.
Over on the left you will see a white arrow on a grey background.
If you click on the + sign next to one of these, you will build a view showing everything we have pushed through Now on this subject – for example, below shows our latest coverage of a weather story, entitled WEATHER Storm.
This facility may be useful for someone in the office – or on the road – who is working on one of these main stories.
Filter by service
You can build other views in Now according to your area of interest. Over on the right of Now there is a larger white + on a grey background.
Click on this and you will open another “All Content” view. At the top of that view, click on the three horizontal lines. That will open up a series of choices for News, Entertainment, Finance and Sport.
You can then choose which of our services you want to see – the options in Now are News, Entertainment, Finance and Sport.
You can also select sub-service you’d like to see or switch off. For example, you could choose to see only news content relating to Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Alternatively, click “All” under News will set up a view of all the News items PA Media is sending on Now.
Click Update Results and whichever view you choose will be set up.
You can then go to the top of the view and rename it, for example ‘News’ to give the view a title.
Filter by content type
If you only want to see specific types of content, you have the option of scrolling a bit further down the set-up view.
Here you can choose from advisories, alerts, graphics, pictures, social, text and video.
How can the content be used?
All the assets you see on Now can be taken for immediate use.
Users can cut and paste the text updates, while for pictures and graphics clicking on “download image” will save it to your desktop.
If you select ‘Social’ you will see tweets. For any that you are interested in, you can click on “copy embed code” and you will see the code to copy and paste.
Advisories will provide regular updates on our latest deployments, what content is planned, legal advisories and diary changes.
Seeing the latest updates
When one of your views has an update, you will see that message at the top of the view. Just click on the new item message and the updates will load up.
Browser notifications
Desktop users in Google Chrome can receive browser notifications for any of their views by clicking the bell icon at the top of each column.
To do this you must first give permission for Explore to send browser notifications.
This will then allow you to receive updates in the bottom right of your screen when new content arrives in your selected columns.
Moving or deleting columns
You can also move the different views around by grabbing the small grey bar on the left of the view and dragging it.
Removing a column is just as easy – simply click the bin icon at the top right.
Remembering your settings
If you return to Now at any point using the same login, the tool will remember your previous settings – meaning any existing searches and notifications will continue as they were.
